GAP

GAP is a system for computational discrete algebra, with particular emphasis on Computational Group Theory. GAP provides a programming language, a library of thousands of functions implementing algebraic algorithms written in the GAP language as well as large data libraries of algebraic objects. GAP is used in research and teaching for studying groups and their representations, rings, vector spaces, algebras, combinatorial structures, and more. The system, including source, is distributed freely. You can study and easily modify or extend it for your special use.

What is a CPU-hr.?
A CPU-hr. is the aggregate CPU time spent across all machines, rounded up to the nearest hour (e.g., a task running on 1,000 CPUs for one minute = 1,000 CPU minutes or approximately 17 CPU hours, costing you only $17).

Key Features

- GAP provides mathematical capabilities accessible through a large library of functions and data libraries of containing large classes of various algebraic objects.
- GAP provides a programming language, also called GAP, which is interpreted and can be compiled. It can be used interactively at the keyboard or to write programs to be saved and then executed. Such programs can easily be modified and rerun.
- The GAP environment is interactive, and supports line editing, break loops for debugging, a GAP GUI, and online help.
